Milestone birthday books

A lifetime of stories, from the people who lived them too.

For the 70th, the 80th, the 90th, the golden anniversary. One shared link gathers memories from children, grandchildren, and lifelong friends. One hardcover book brings them to the party.

One-time purchase. Everyone you invite contributes free.

  • Mom drove us to every practice. Every single one.

    her son

  • She's been my best friend since 1963.

    her best friend

  • Grandpa taught me to whistle and to fish, in that order.

    his grandson

  • Eighty years old and she still beats us all at cards.

    her nephew

The pages fill with moments like these. Ours are examples; the words in your book will be your family’s own.

What is a milestone birthday book?

A milestone birthday book is a hardcover collection of stories and photos about someone's life, contributed by family and friends for a landmark birthday or anniversary. Each person adds a memory in their own words through a shared link, and everything is printed as one book to give at the celebration. Kindred Tales milestone books start at $129, and contributors join free.

The book itself

Not a website. A book.

Passed around the party until someone tears up.

How it works

One link out, one book back.

  1. Start the book

A few minutes and an email address. Tell us who the book celebrates, then invite everyone: the siblings, the grandkids, the friend from 1963.

  2. Share one link

Put it in the family group chat and watch the stories you've never heard arrive. Contributors open the link on any phone, write a story or add a photo, and press send. No account, no app, nothing to learn.

  3. We make it a book

You arrange the pages and approve everything before printing. A hardcover arrives before the party, wrapped or not. Fair warning: there will be tears.

What it becomes

One page, one voice.

An example of how a single contributed story is typeset in the finished book.

From chapter two

The blue Schwinn

Everyone remembers Dad teaching them to ride a bike. All five of us. The same blue Schwinn, the same hill, the same running-behind-you promise that he was still holding on.

At some point we compared notes and did the math. He ran behind that bike, on and off, for eleven years.

Told by his youngest daughter

The Signature keepsake

Some memories are meant to be heard.

Save the voices that filled the room for them.

Contributors can record short videos, not just write. A QR code printed in the book plays each video, so their voices stay close to the stories they told. We host the videos securely for ten years, ready whenever someone opens the book and presses play.

One-time purchase. No subscription.

Two ways to make their book.

Both are the same hardcover, filled by the same voices. Signature adds those voices on video.

Questions, answered

What organizers ask.

Is this a surprise gift or a group project?

Either, and both work beautifully. Many families keep it secret until the party. Others tell the guest of honor and let them enjoy the stories arriving. You decide who sees what, and when.

Do contributors need an account?

No. Everyone from the grandkids to the friend who barely texts opens the same link, writes a story or adds a photo, and presses send. No account, no app, no password.

How many people can contribute?

As many as you invite. Big families are the point: the more voices in the book, the better it reads at the party.

How far ahead should we start?

Four to eight weeks before the celebration is comfortable. Stories arrive fast once the group chat gets the link. Printing and shipping take the rest.

What's the difference between Essential and Signature?

Essential ($129) is the full hardcover book, with a shared link so family and friends can contribute stories and photos. Signature ($189) adds video: family can record short birthday messages, QR codes printed in the book play them, and we host the videos for ten years.

They've spent a lifetime making the stories. Give them the book.

One link to the family, a few weeks of stories arriving, and a hardcover book on the table at the party. The gift everyone crowds around.

One-time purchase. Everyone you invite contributes free.
